This scene was one of many I was able to visit and photograph with the Navajo guide I hired. Note these guides are required to tour tribal lands in Monument Valley that are outside the normal tourist paths. The sense of vast space and desolation is balanced by the stunning color and forms of the all the different formations. Monument Valley is one of my favorite places to do a photo shoot. I was standing on privately owned land of the Ron Atine family--he was my tour guide. That family's monarchs are seen in the bronze statue at the entrance to the park. Amazing to walk along side living relatives to original settlers of that land.
View from Artist Point in Monument Valley Tribal Park, Arizona. This particular view is not accessible without a native guide. Worth every penny to hear the stories first hand of life in the park currently, and historically.
