A January 2020 group photo shoot in Death Valley was a fascinating look into the minds and hearts of other photographers. My education was cut somewhat short by a badly sprained ankle on day two. The most fascinating part of that incident is it led me to have to make the best use of my eyes with what was right in front of me. While others scampered off to shoot great vistas, I watched from our truck until I saw something so interesting to shoot I had to hobble out to it. At least three amazing photos came from what would ordinarily be a ruined expedition, and this is my favorite. Lesson learned and appreciated. This tree reminds me of a dancing tree--a ballet dancer bent to her left in an elegant stance.
